It’s no secret that we like to keep our pulse on all the happenings in the beauty and style realm. From lobs to sombre, to #eyebrowsonfleek, it’s few and far between that we don’t catch the latest fads when they’re on their way up.
So when we started seeing “strobing” taking over all of our social feeds, we knew we had to get to the bottom of it. And we found out that it does not, in fact, have anything to do with disco lights.
Strobing is a makeup application technique, similar to contouring, but without the shadow. The strobing technique focuses entirely on the highlight, and leaves out the lowlight or shadow completely. The result is a face that looks extra glowy and iridescent where the sunlight would hit it naturally. Think cheekbones, the tip of your nose, chin, and even forehead: the peaks of the face are all fair game.
